BOROUGH 22 was the brainchild of Ryan Panchoo back in 2011 when he wanted to provide an inclusive doughnut for those suffering with gluten and dairy intolerances.
When out and about in London, it was evident there were very few multi-allergen friendly products and a severe lack of quality in the few choices that were offered.
It was only in 2014, after many hours of researching and tweaking, he crafted a recipe for firstly gluten free, then dairy, soya and finally egg free doughnuts meaning they were completely plant based too.
Up until November 2023 he was still baking in a commerical kitchen he build at the end of his garden in London's 22nd borough, Royal Greenwich, which is where the company name is derived. He is now based in Karma Kitchen, Bermondsey SE16.
He swept the boards in 2023 with his free-from fried doughnut which won,
Product of the Year, Free From Food Awards.
3 golds and one silver Free From Food Awards.
A Great Taste Award.

Borough 22 is also a finalist for the London Chamber of Commerce SME Business Awards 2024 which will be announced in February.
